Description

During a drawing class at a local community college I drew this piece. We were to draw an apple in a paper bag and continually change the piece, ripping the bag up, taking bites out of the apple, change the apple's position, and so on. I welcome critiques. Hey, I'm ProjectComment's Comment Tag and my tag word is "red". I chose this drawing because I only could find one piece that has the actual color in it, but it already had a comment from this game, so I thought it would be better to critique on another one. Also, I associate apples with the color red, so it seems kind of fitting...

First of all, I love the idea and the concept of the picture. You fulfilled your task in a very creative and interesing way and it's clear to see that you're very skilled when it comes to sketching and shading with a pencil. The apples and the bag blend nicely together, it's even hard to tell everything apart at the first glance. Therefore, there's always something new to discover in the drawing. For example, I didn't recognise the stem in the upper left part, because it seems to come out of the bag, while this area could also be part of an apple. Also, I think you did well with details like the slightly darker parts around the bites.
There's no much to add to this. Maybe one thing to improve would be some parts of the crumples in the paper bag. They look very abstract almost everywhere, which is obviously fine with an abstract piece like this, but I don't know if I would have racognised it as a paper bag without the discription. Maybe you could have crumpled and ripped a paper bag and study it under harsh light to draw some parts more recognizable. I think the right corner is a good approach.
Well, overall that's just a minor thing and I enjoy looking at your drawing very much. I don't know if you wan't to continue with that style, but I'd like to see more of these abstract artworks from you.

Hope this helped somehow! Have a nice day :D
